Executive Decisions

Thanks to Yahoo! News, because here at BYU-Idaho we don't believe in cable or MSNBC, I've been able to closely follow President Obama's first few days in office. I'm glad to see he's not wasting time and getting down to business and keeping his campaign promises. I really do hope and pray that he will be a good President for our country in this very difficult time. I am always of the opinion that even if you did not vote for the current President or if you don't even like him you should still support him. He is the President afterall and I always try to keep in mind that it's not possible to make every person happy with the decisions made. Obviously though the majority are content with Obama as President (me being one of them, take that for what you will).

I don't claim to be a political extrodinaire, but I do my best to keep current on the news and follow what is going on. This was a lot easier when I was in Virginia because my dad almost always has MSNBC on and I can always ask him to explain things I don't understand. Now I pretty much have to figure it out on my own, but I try to know both sides before forming an opinion.

As of right now I do not know that I am exactly for closing down Quantanimo Bay, but I am certainly for reforming interrogation techniques and I agree with what President Obama is quoting with saying in the article. I'll wait for a later date to form an entire and concrete opinion. But for now I'm just glad some sort of action is being taken, that President Obama is getting down to business and at least so far keeping to his campaign promises.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama began overhauling U.S. treatment of terror suspects Thursday, signing orders to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center, shut down secret overseas CIA prisons, review military war crimes trials and ban the harshest interrogation methods.
